Or how having a fresh install is a beautiful thing.

Plugged In

This week, Plugged In looks familiar, but surprisingly fresh.

Ohhhh shiiiiit, that's right! We're still on the new MacBook Pro train!

giphy-Jan-13-2022-08-25-30-50-AMIf only I brought this enthusiasm to any other part of my life.

So far we've covered the joy of waiting and how sexy a new bit of tech feels.

But today? I'm going to talk about fresh slates.

An interesting part of modern technology is how rare it is to start a device off with default settings. In other words, much of your data transfers across.

I β€” an old ass man β€” remember the days when upgrading phones was a nightmare. Doing something as simple as transferring numbers to a new handset was unimaginably tiresome.

I mean, I had to manually copy each contact from one phone to the other.

giphy-Jan-13-2022-08-55-26-30-AMThe days of my youth.

Considering this, it's a blessing how seamless upgrading to a new device is. All I had to do with the latest iPhone was enter my iCloud information.

But there is a downside: my hardware is overflowing with old shit.

For example, my iPhone is filled with useless apps in stupid orders β€” and I'm too lazy to do anything about it.

This isn't what I wanted with my new MacBook Pro though. So I took action and did what only a person of outstanding moral fortitude could: a fresh install.

giphy-Jan-13-2022-09-38-44-68-AMThis is how I must appear to you, dear reader.

And, pals, it's been glorious.

Shorn from my old preferences and apps, setting up the MacBook has not only been relaxing and fun, it's allowed me to really tailor it.

I've spent hours reading forums and exploring listicles in order to make the laptop function perfectly for me. So, what are these apps and services revolutionizing my computing life?

Well, you'll have to wait until next week for that.

While we're still early in the year and 2022 resolutions are a big topic, can we interest you in the MaxPro, a gym that fits in a backpack?

THE COUNTDOWN CONTINUES!

So far the tracks I've shared from my MOST LISTENED TO IN 2021 are:

  1. 'Closing In,' by Goat Girl
  2. 'Stellate,' by Samia

And, SURPRISE SURPRISE, my third most listened to track is also a piece of indie pop by a woman artst.

Please, bow down, 'You Seemed So Happy,' by the Japanese House.

This track has swiftly become one of my spun ever. It's a delight.

The harmonies are tight, it's catchy, and walks an interesting line between melancholia and upbeatness. It clocks in at under three minutes β€” and fits a lot of excellence in that time.

I'm also partial to this session version, if you're looking for a more stripped down sound.

And... WOULD YOU BELIEVE? I'm also a IN LOVE with the Japanese House's debut album, which 'You Seemed So Happy' can be found on.

It's called Good At Falling β€” and you can listen to it where you normally find albums.
